Many of us think Yoga is all about how we look in yoga poses, "Asana."
Another important practice of Yoga is breathing, "Pranayama."

When do we pay attention to our own breathing? It is probably when we have difficulty breathing, for example, suffering from clogged nose, running outside after not doing much cardio exercise.
We automatically breathe without any attention to how we are breathing. Why do we need to practice how to breathe? To answer this question, consider the following:
What's the best way to internally massage the organs?
What interventions impact aging, stress, anxiety, and anger?
What can enhance performance?
It is already scientifically proven that deliberate breathing practice, pranayama will do it all! We take breathing for granted, but we cannot undermine the power of breathing. It is not only spiritual... It is proven.
Breathing awareness anchors the mind to the present moment.
Deeper breath internally stretches and lifts muscle and organs making them more mobile.
Deeper breath activates Gava, the substance that decreases cortisol level, thus relaxing the body-mind.
We can learn more elaborate yogic breathing techniques in the class this coming Friday. We can apply them at any moment we become nervous about something, angry with anyone, and concerned about our loved ones.
I came across a series of videos Dr. Heidi Sormaz. She is one of the top 20 Yoga Instructors who explains the benefits of Yogic breath. I highly recommend watching them.
